Tritons Report


SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The 9th-ranked UC San Diego baseball team will be making its second consecutive NCAA Division II West Region tournament, it was announced late Sunday night. The Tritons are the No. 2 seed in the six-team regional, joining No. 1 Sonoma State, No. 3 Chico State, No. 4 Cal State Stanislaus, No. 5 Western Oregon and No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney. The Tritons will open up play on Thursday, May 15 when it faces Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion Western Oregon. The winner of the six-team regional in Chico, Calif. will advance to the DII Championship finals in Montgomery, Alabama.

Crew Ends Season
UC San Diego men's crew ended its 2007-2008 season with strong performances Sunday during day two of the National Invitational Collegiate Regatta. The Tritons' second varsity eight, after coming in second in its heat, placed sixth overall out of the 18 squads competing. "For us that marked the first time a varsity or junior varsity boat made it into a Grand Final at this regatta," UCSD head coach Zach Johnson.
