ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Jon Garland takes the hill for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the rubber game of a three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

Garland (1-0, 1.13) dazzled in his season debut, allowing one run over seven strong innings in a 9-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins. The 6-6 righthander was acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the offseason for Orlando Cabrera to help bolster Anaheim's rotation. Garland is 4-7 with a 5.50 ERA in 17 career games against the Rangers.

Vicente Padilla (0-0, 1.50 ERA) goes to the mound for Texas, which was held to just five hits in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Angels. Padilla gave up one run and eight hits with three walks in six innings in a no-decision against the Seattle Mariners in his first start of the season. The veteran righthander was less then stellar on the road last year, posting a 2-7 record with an 8.04 ERA in 13 starts.
