SAN DIEGO (Ticker) - Even on a pitching staff that includes reigning National League Cy Young Award winner Jake Peavy, there may be not be a San Diego Padres pitcher tougher to hit than Chris Young.

Young takes the mound for the Padres as they look to pick up their second series win in as many tries on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. A 6-10 righthander, Young (1-0, 1.59 ERA) has led the majors in opponent batting average in each of the last two seasons. After holding opponents to a .206 average in 2006, he topped himself last season when hitters batted just .194 against him. In his first start on Tuesday, Young overcame five walks over 5 2/3 innings, allowing just one run and five hits in a 2-1 win over Houston.

Opposing him on the mound will be Derek Lowe (0-0, 3.00), who has yet to win in seven starts at Petco Park. The veteran sinkerballer, who went 1-1 with a 5.30 ERA in three starts against the Padres last season, will make his first road start of the season after not factoring into the decision in a 3-2 win over San Francisco on Tuesday.
