Alaska Fairbanks Visits UCSD
SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The UC San Diego men's basketball team will continue its current five game homestand on Thursday evening with a 7 p.m. game against visiting Alaska Fairbanks. The Tritons enter the matchup in RIMAC Arena with a 2-2 overall record while the Nanooks bring a 3-2 mark to La Jolla for a key NCAA D-II West Region game for both squads. UCSD and UAA have met only three previous times in men's basketball. The Nanooks hold a narrow 2-1 advantage in the all-time series. Both UAA victories came during the 2002-03 season as the Tritons traveled to Fairbanks and dropped 67-50 and 76-74 decisions over a span of three nights in December, 2002.

Volleyball Picked to Finished 12th
The UC San Diego men's volleyball team was picked to finish in 12th-place in the preseason Mountain Pacific Sports Federation poll, it was announced on Tuesday. Pepperdine received the most votes with 108 and five first-place votes. BYU was closely behind in second place with 105 votes and five first-place votes while UCLA was third with 104 votes and one first-place vote. The Tritons return Eric Leserman who led the MPSF last year with 2.91 digs per game and earned second-team All-Conference honors. Also returning for UCSD include Jason Spangler, Will Ehrman, Frank Fritsch and Adrian Guthals.
