Men's Hoops Wins CCAA Opener
SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The UC San Diego men's basketball team won its California Collegiate Athletic Association opener on Friday night, defeating Cal State Stanislaus by a 63-60 score on the La Jolla campus. The Tritons led 15-3 in the early stages of the game and held off a late CSUS charge. Two Kelvin Kim free-throws with :09 remaining and a defensive stop to end the game gave UCSD its first win of the season. Kim finished with 14 points while Clint Allard recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Allard also added five assists. UCSD improves to 1-2, 1-0 CCAA while CSUS drops to 2-4, 1-1 CCAA.

Women Rout Cal St. Stanislaus

The 4th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team scored 26 of the first 30 points en route to a 77-58 conference opening win against Cal State Stanislaus on Friday night in RIMAC Arena. UCSD led by as many as 27 points as a trio of Tritons scored in double figures. Meaghan Noud led the way with 14 points, while Michelle Osier added 13 points, six rebounds and four steals. Alexis Gaskin scored 12 points and added five rebounds. With the win, UCSD improves to 6-0, 1-0 CCAA while the Warriors drop to 1-5, 0-2 CCAA. UCSD is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts No. 8 Chico State.
