Soccer Prepares For OK State
The ninth-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team (15-2-3) will head to Los Angeles and the campus of UCLA to compete in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament. USD will square off against No. 19 Oklahoma State University in the first round at 8 p.m. on Friday. Should USD win, they will play the winner of the No. 1 UCLA vs. Cal State Fullerton match on Sunday in a 1 p.m. contest at UCLA's Drake Stadium.The Cowgirls are coming into the match with an overall record of 13-5-3 and they advanced into the semi-final round of the Big-12 tournament, before falling to Texas in penalty kicks. Oklahoma State and San Diego have never met in the sport of women's soccer. The Cowgirls are led offensively by a pair of seven-goal scorers in Siera Strawser and Yolanda Odenyo.

Six Players Gain WCC Honors
The ninth-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team placed six players on the All-West Coast Conference teams. Junior forward Amy Epsten and senior midfielder Leigh Ann Robinson were selected first-team All-WCC, while junior goalkeeper Brittany Cameron and senior defender Vanessa Vella were named second-team All-WCC. Sophomore defender Natalie Vinti was named All-WCC honorable mention and freshman striker Ashleigh Shoughro was named to the All-WCC Freshman team.Epsten, a 5-6 junior from San Diego, finished the season by tying the program record for single-season goals with a WCC-best 14, and she added in one assist for 29 points. With her 14 goals this season, Epsten became the new all-time career leader in goals scored with 30, breaking an 11-year old record held by by Michele Kennedy (1993-96). Epsten was named the WCC Player of the Week once this season.


Football Closes Out Season Saturday at UC Davis
The USD Torero football team (9-1), under the direction of first year head coach Ron Caragher, close out their 2007 campaign with a road contest at UC Davis (4-6) this coming Saturday, November 17th. Kickoff is 1:05 p.m. at Aggie Stadium. The radio broadcast will air live on San Diego 1700 AM (Jack Cronin & Ted Tollner), and via the internet at www.usdtoreros.com. The UC Davis Aggies hold a 1-0 lead in the series which began just last season. UCD downed the Toreros 37-27 on Nov. 22nd, handing USD its only loss in 2006. It was the Aggies final game played at Toomey Field. USD will be gunning for their third straight season with double-digit victories.
