Toreros Rout Big Sky Opponent, 49-13

SAN DIEGO - The USD Toreros (3-0) hosted their first FCS scholarship program, the Northern Colorado Bears (0-3), a member of the Big Sky Conference. Before 3,017 fans at Torero Stadium, USD won its 21st straight home contest with a dominating 49-13 victory.

Senior QB Josh Johnson threw six touchdowns and rushed for personal-best 147 yards in improving his record as a starter to 24-2. Senior WR Wes Doyle hauled in nine receptions for 132 yards and four touchdowns to help lead the USD offense.

Senior DE Eric Bakhtiari (9 tackles and 3 sacks) and senior LB Tyler Evans (13 tackles) paced the solid defensive effort. Junior JT Rogan showed why he is the national leader in kickoff returns as he opened up the 3rd quarter scoring with a 94-yard return for a TD that increased USD's lead to 35-6.

Johnson became USD's all-time record holder for TD passes with 76, passing by Eric Rasmussen's mark of 75 (2000-2003)
on his second touchdown completion of the game. Johnson ended the evening with 80 career touchdown passes, and now needs just 93 more passing yards to unseat Rasmussen's career mark of 7,487 yards.

USD is off next week, and then begins PFL play with back-to-back road games at Butler (Sept. 29th) and Valparaiso (Oct. 6th).
