MISL Ceases Opearations

WESTPORT, Connecticut (Ticker) -- The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) has ceased operations but will plan to restructure. The MISL, which started in 2001, officially shut down effective last Saturday.

"We are considering structural changes that will bring us greater efficiencies, while also allowing long-term growth and expansion of the league," said John Hantz, former MISL chairman and current owner of the Detroit Ignition.

The MISL expects to announce its decision on the league's future structure in the coming weeks. Along with Detroit, the league had teams based in Baltimore; Chicago; Stockton, California; Milwaukee; Newark, New Jersey; Philadelphia; Orlando; and Monterrey, Mexico.
