Aztecs Beat
SAN DIEGO (SDSU) - Nick Romero singled home Troy Hanzawa in the top of the 10th as San Diego State defeated Air Force, 5-4, Saturday afternoon in Colorado Springs. Romero's game-winning hit would not have been possible without the heroics of Aztec right fielder Pat Colwell, who hit a two-out solo homer in the top of the ninth to send the game to extra frames. The win allowed SDSU to keep pace with the league leaders as it improved to 27-21 overall and 12-7 in the Mountain West Conference.
Softball Wins
The No. 19/21 San Diego State softball team won its third consecutive one-run game with a 2-1 victory over New Mexico Saturday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs are now 40-15 overall and first in the Mountain West Conference with a 12-5 record, ½ games up on Brigham Young (11-5).
Track & Field Competes
In its final regular-season tune-up before the Mountain West Conference Championships, the San Diego State track and field team traveled north Saturday for the Asics/Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium on the campus of UC Irvine. A total of five Aztecs set personal records on the first day of competition, including a trio of runners in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
