SoCal MLB AL Preview

LA Angels (15-9) at Detroit (10-14) 12:55 pm

DETROIT (Ticker) - Armando Galarraga targets his team-best third win on Saturday when the Detroit Tigers host the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in the second game of a three-game set.

Detroit entered Friday's series opener having scored 37 runs over its last three games, but Anaheim allowed just six hits and used a homer from Vladimir Guerrero to win, 4-3.

Acquired in an offseason trade with Texas for outfielder Michael Hernandez, Galarraga (2-0, 1.50 ERA) was recalled from the minors on April 16 to fill in for injured starter Dontrelle Willis. Instead of merely just filling the void, the rookie righthander has won both of his starts and is the only Tiger starter with two wins so far. Galarraga collected his second victory in Monday' 5-1 win over Toronto. He tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and walking four batters. He'll need to be at his very best once again as the Angels will take their fourth shot at establishing a four-game winning streak this month.

Anaheim, which has already managed to put together a trio of three-game winning streaks in the season's first month, has been unable to capture win No. 4. In two of those streak-stopping losses, Dustin Moseley (1-2, 7.78) has suffered the setback, including Sunday's 4-2 loss to Seattle when the righthander allowed four runs and eight hits over 4 2/3 innings.
