ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Chone Figgins and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will look for their fourth straight victory when they open a two-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. Figgins had two hits, drove in a run and stole a base in Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the Texas Rangers. The 30-year-old Figgins, who is batting .393 with a league-leading seven stolen bases this season, is currently riding a seven-game hitting streak.
Royals first baseman Billy Butler had his 13-game hitting streak snapped in Tuesday's 11-6 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Butler, who is batting .375 on the campaign, did drive in a run for a third straight game.
Jered Weaver (1-2, 3.79 ERA) will get the start for the Angels, who have lost five straight games to the Royals dating to last season. Weaver was roughed up for five runs on four hits and four walks in his last start - an 8-5 setback to the Mariners on Friday.
Kansas City will counter with Gil Meche (0-2, 7.13), who gave up five runs and five hits with four walks and six strikeouts over five frames in Friday's 5-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins.
