SAN DIEGO (SDSU) - Senior Tamani Wells (Concord, Calif.) drove in two runs and senior Christina Ross (Santa Clarita, Calif.) extended her consecutive scoreless streak to 25 2/3 innings to give the No. 19/22 San Diego State softball team a 4-0 victory over UNLV in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs improved to 27-10 (1-0 MWC) with their third straight shutout, while the Rebels dropped to 20-21-1 (0-1 MWC).

Tennis Drops Match

The San Diego State women's tennis team (7-11 overall, 0-4 MWC) dropped its fourth straight Mountain West Conference match with a 5-2 loss to No. 24 TCU on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.

New Mexico Rallies to Defeat Baseball Team

An inability to take advantage of early scoring opportunities plus a late rally by New Mexico were the main contributing factors as the Aztecs dropped a 5-4 decision to the Lobos Saturday afternoon at Tony Gwynn Stadium. It was the third straight loss for SDSU, which finds itself with a record of 17-13 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain West Conference. With the victory, UNM improves to 20-10 on the season and moves into a tie for first place in the MWC with San Diego State at 5-3 in league play.

Aztecs Crew Does Well

The San Diego State crew team had an impressive first day at the 35th annual San Diego Crew Classic Saturday on the Crown Point Shores at Mission Bay, San Diego, Calif. The varsity eight boat won its heat to advance to Sunday's grand final, while the novice eight boat took second in its heat to qualify for Sunday's grand final as well. In addition, the second novice eight boat took first of three to win its race.
