UCSD Makes D2 Tournament

SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The NCAA Committee announced the bracket for the Division II Tournament Sunday and awarded the UC San Diego men's basketball team with the No. 8 seed in the West Region. The Tritons will play Friday night against the University of Alaska Anchorage, the regional host.

UCSD clinched a berth in the 64-team field with a win Saturday over Cal Poly Pomona in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament championship game. After a 17-point performance in the title game, Triton junior Henry Patterson was crowned the tournament's most valuable player. UCSD is making its first Division II Tournament appearance.
