SAN DIEGO (USD) -Trumaine Johnson scored a career-high 22 points and Brandon Johnson added 21 to lead San Diego to a 77-73 win over Pepperdine on Saturday night. Trumaine Johnson, a freshman, scored 14 of his points in the first half when San Diego trailed 38-37 at halftime. It was only the fourth time in 17 games this season that the Toreros came back to win after they trailed at the half. Freshman Tyrone Shelley led Pepperdine with 21 points. Mike Hornbuckle added 16 points, making 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range, for the Waves, who have lost seven straight to San Diego.

Women Defeat LMU

Four University of San Diego women's basketball players scored in double-figures and two recorded double-doubles, as the Toreros knocked off Loyola Marymount University, 63-55, in the West Coast Conference regular-season finale Saturday afternoon.With the win, the Toreros finish the regular-season with a 16-12 overall record and a 7-7 mark in the WCC, good for a third place finish and the No. 3 seed in the WCC Tournament this upcoming weekend. USD will take on Portland in a 6 p.m. game on Thursday in the opening round of the WCC Tournament at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion. With the loss, the Lions fall to 15-14 overall and 7-7 in the WCC. USD holds the tie break over LMU for the No. 3 seed by virtue of a season sweep over the Lions.

Baseball Slips By Missouri

The 12th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team scored three runs in the sixth inning to claim a 5-4 come-from-behind win over No. 5 Missouri Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at Cunningham Stadium.With the win, the Toreros improve to 5-3 overall and have strung together four consecutive wins, two of which are over top-10 teams. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 5-2 overall.With the Toreros trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, USD went to work. Sean Nicol led off the inning with a walk and he moved to second on a Josh Romanski walk. Victor Sanchez drove in the first run with a double down the left field line, scoring Nicol and moving Romanski to third. Logan Gelbrich then drove in Romanski with a RBI single through the left side and the final USD run came on a Kevin Hansen RBI sacrifice bunt to give USD the 5-4 win.
