Aztecs Beat

SAN DIEGO (SDSU) - New Mexico won its fifth Mountain West Conference title in six seasons Saturday behind 22 points from Brandi Kimble and 21 from Dionne Marshall as the fourth-seeded Lobos fended off sixth-seeded San Diego State 62-59. The Aztecs (18-13) gave a valiant effort for their third upset in this tournament. Allison Duffy scored 15 points and Davis added 12 for Aztecs.

Baseball Sweeps BYU

San Diego State came out swinging Sunday afternoon, scoring 11 times over the first three innings as it defeated Brigham Young, 13-6, in the finale of the teams' three-game Mountain West Conference-opening set. With the win, the Aztecs completed a sweep of the series against BYU, something it had not done since the 2002 campaign. While improving its record to 10-7 overall, San Diego State moved to 3-0 in MWC play, only the second time it has opened its conference season with three straight wins since joining the league in 2000.

Tennis Downs Yale

The 56th-ranked San Diego State men's tennis team won its second match in row on Saturday with a hard-fought 4-3 triumph over Yale at Aztec Tennis Center. The trio of sophomores Achim Ceban, Matan Shitrit and freshman Andre Feliz were the big winners on the day as each emerged victorious in both doubles and singles play to help SDSU raise its record to 7-5 overall. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs suffered their fourth defeat in a row to fall to 4-6 on the season.
