Tritons Report

SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The UC San Diego women's basketball duo of Michelle Osier and Meaghan Noud combined to outscore No. 24 Cal State San Bernardino in the Tritons' 66-56 win on Friday night at Coussoulis Arena. Osier poured in 30 points to go with 16 rebounds while Noud contributed 27 points and seven boards. After leading by one point at halftime, the Tritons led by as many as 14 points in the second half. CSUSB came within five points with two minutes left, but the Tritons pulled away, making 24-of-30 free-throws in the game. With the win, UCSD sweeps the regular season series, improving to 20-7, 12-5 CCAA, while the Coyotes drop to 20-5, 14-4 CCAA. The win for UCSD gives the women's basketball program 20 victories for the third consecutive season.
Men's Hoops Suffers Defeat
The UC San Diego men's basketball team suffered a 70-55 defeat at the hands of No. 20 Cal State San Bernardino Friday evening. The Coyotes improved to 21-5 overall and remain atop the CCAA standings with a 14-4 league record. Despite three Triton players scoring in double figures, the CSUSB defense held UCSD to 36 shot attempts and picked up nine steals. Triton senior guard Clint Allard led the team with 13 points on 4-for-6 shooting while sophomore guard Jordan Lawley dropped in 11 points to go along with four assists. Junior guard Kelvin Kim added 10 points for UCSD.
Volleyball Loses On The Road
The UC San Diego men's volleyball team suffered a 30-27, 27-30, 30-25, 30-27 loss to Lewis on Friday night at the Neil Carey Arena in Romeoville, Illinois. Jason Spangler had a big night for the Tritons with 25 kills and 12 digs. Tyler Kern chipped in with seven kills and six blocks while Billy Arnold ran the offense with 47 assists. Eric Leserman recorded a match-high 17 digs in the loss. With the loss, the Tritons drop to 4-11, while Lewis improves to 8-5. UCSD is back in action tomorrow night when it faces Loyola Chicago at 5:00 p.m. on the Lewis campus.
