Tritons Report

SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - For the second straight day, the team atop the CCAA standings lost at home, this time it was UC San Diego getting upset by Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday evening by a 61-46 score in RIMAC Arena. With the loss the Tritons fall to 15-7 overall and 11-5 in league play while the Toros improve to 14-8 overall and 9-7 in conference action. UCSD never led in the game but did force three ties, the last of which came at the 15:22 mark of the second half when the score was knotted at 30 apiece. From that point on, CSUDH put on a clinic, out-scoring the Tritons by a 31-16 margin and leading by as many as 19 points before settling on the 15 point margin of victory.

Women Down CSDH
The UC San Diego women's basketball team got all of its points from the starting five during the 75-64 victory over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday evening in RIMAC Arena. With the win the Tritons improve to 19-7 overall and 11-5 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play while the Toros fall to 12-11 overall and 6-10 in league action. Meaghan Noud led all scorers on the night with her 28 points. She made four of 11 from behind the 3-point line, giving her 65 treys made this season, the second highest single season total in program history. Erin Noonan and Alexis Gaskin would each score 14 while Osier added a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Swimming Finishes Strong
The UC San Diego swimming and diving team came up short in its bid to repeat as Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference Champion on Saturday night in Long Beach. The Tritons continued to turn in strong times as the men's team finished second, while the women's team finished third. On the men's side, Todd Langland won the 100 free with an NCAA ‘A' cut time of 45.41. On the women's side, Anju Shimura and Kendall Bohn won individual events. The women's 400 free relay team of Aubrey Panis, Erinn Deters, Shannon Simonds and Shimura took top honors with a time of 3:28.28.
