SAN DIEGO (USD) - The University of San Diego softball team posted a split decision in their doubleheader against the Eastern Michigan Eagles winning 5-0 in game one and losing in game two 10-3 Wednesday night from the USD Softball Complex.In game one, the Toreros posted a shutout allowing four hits and committing only one error. USD's Jennifer Ellenbeck pitched seven scoreless innings tallying her fourth complete game of the season while on offense she sent a ball over the left field fence for a solo homerun. USD's offense was in high gear as they posted consecutive runs in the first three innings for a 4-0 lead. San Diego also recorded a run in the fifth inning to secure the 5-0 victory.

Hoops Host Two
The USD Toreros (16-13; 9-3 WCC) close out their regular-season schedule this week with home games against Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount. USD will host the Pepperdine Waves (10-18; 4-8 wcc) on Saturday, March 1st, in a 6 p.m. contest. The LMU Lions (5-23; 2-10 WCC) come to town for a Monday night 7 p.m. contest. On Saturday it will be the 81st meeting between the Toreros and Waves - Pepperdine owns a commanding 52-28 lead, but USD has won six straight in the series. Back on Feb. 4th the Toreros held on for a 61-58 win at Pepperdine with De'Jon Jackson scoring a career-best 20 points. Monday's game with LMU marks the75th meeting - the Lions hold a 38-36 advantage. USD earned a convincing 72-48 win back on Feb. 2nd. Saturday's game will be televised by 4SD with Steve Quis & Jim Brogan. Monday's contest will air on ESPNU with Steve Physioc and Krista Blunk. Both games will also be broadcast on XX Sports Radio (1090 AM & 105.7 FM) with Andy Masur and John Kentera bringing you the action.

Tennis Team Loses
The USD women's tennis team took on the Lady Paladins of Furman on Wednesday afternoon, finishing with a score of 5-2 in favor of the Paladins. Despite the efforts of the No. 2 doubles duo, Helene Lindstrand and Alexandra Demidova to earn an 8-5 win over Lauren Osborne and Monica Arguello, Furman was able to secure the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. In singles play, USD received match wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots by Alexandra Demidova and Ellie Faulkner. But Furman proved to be too much for the Toreros, as Jessica Preeg beat out Carla Tamborini 2-6, 7-5, 10-7 at the No. 4 singles spot in a three set tiebreaker match, along with three additional single wins at the No.1, No. 2, and No. 3 spots.
