Fan Wins $1 Million
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) - Darwin Head has a million reasons to smile. The 35-year-old sawmill worker and father of three from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan won the $1 million grand prize on Wednesday in the Malibu Million Dollar Shootout.
To claim the paycheck, Head scored 15 goals from the far blue line in 24 seconds during the first intermission of the Vancouver Canucks-Colorado Avalanche game at General Motors Place. "This is just unreal. I can't wait to have a huge party and celebrate with my family and friends back home in Prince Albert," Head said. "And it feels so great that my wife and I will be able to look after our kids' futures with this money."
Head, who was randomly selected from 8.6 million total online entries, had a chance to practice with Hall of Fame defenseman Bobby Orr on Tuesday. Prior to the shootout, Head, his cousin Lance Badger and another fan, Randy Bout, scored 15 goals into an open net from center ice, each winning a new Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid.
