SoCal NHL Preview

Anaheim (27-21-6) at St. Louis (23-19-7), 5:30 pm
ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - With the way the Anaheim Ducks have been performing offensively, Teemu Selanne's arrival can't come soon enough. The Ducks try to snap a four-game losing streak Friday when they visit the St. Louis Blues.
Selanne, who finished third in the league with 48 goals last season and was a major reason why the Ducks won the Stanley Cup, contemplated retirement before re-signing on Monday. It is uncertain when he will make his 2008 debut. He is the second member of last year's squad - after defenseman Scott Niedermayer - to return to the team out of retirement.
While the Ducks went 12-5-1 upon Niedermayer rejoining the team, they have slowed of late. The club has managed just five goals in the last four games while yielding 15. Jean-Sebastien Giguere, the Ducks' top goaltender, has started in each of the last four games and has yielded a 4.21 goals-against average, getting pulled before the end of the second period in each of the last two contests.
St. Louis snapped a seven-game losing streak Tuesday with a 3-2 at Toronto. Keith Tkachuk scored twice for his first multi-goal game of the season. The Blues won the first meeting this season, 4-2, on October 23.
