Bowl Game Schedule Complete

(Ticker) - The college bowl season, beginning in San Diego with the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl on December 20, is now set after the BCS filled their contests.

On New Year's Day, defending national champion Florida (9-3) will take on Michigan (8-4) in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The game will mark the end of coach Lloyd Carr's career at Michigan. The third-winningest coach in Wolverines history, Carr announced his retirement on November 19, ending his 13-year stint at Michigan.

Virginia (9-3) accepted a spot in the Gator Bowl against Texas Tech (8-4) on January 1 in Jacksonville, Florida. Tennessee (9-4) and Wisconsin (9-3) complete the New Year's Day schedule in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida.

Six bowl games are slated for New Year's Eve, headlined by the matchup between Clemson (9-3) and Auburn (8-4) in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta. Florida State (7-5) will take on Kentucky (7-5) in the Music City Bowl on December 31 while Oregon (8-4) meets South Florida (9-3) on the same day in the Sun Bowl. In the three other bowls scheduled for New Year's Eve, Air Force (9-3) faces California (6-6) in the Armed Forces Bowl; Fresno State (8-4) takes on Georgia Tech (7-5) in the Humanitarian Bowl; and Oklahoma State (6-6) meets Indiana (7-5) in the Insight Bowl.

Fifteen other bowl games will be played prior to New Year's Eve, a schedule which kicks off with the Poinsettia Bowl on December 20 between Utah (8-4) and Navy (8-4). Perhaps the most intriguing contest prior to December 31 is the Holiday Bowl, which pits Arizona State (10-2) against Texas (9-3) on December 27. Atlantic Coast Conference runner-up Boston College (10-3) plays the following day against Michigan State (7-5) in the Champs Sports Bowl. A trio of games are scheduled for December 29, when Connecticut (9-3) plays Wake Forest (8-4) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl; Mississippi State (7-5) meets Central Florida in the Liberty Bowl; and Penn State (8-4) faces Texas A&M (7-5) in the Alamo Bowl.
