Women's Basketball Begins Title Defense
SAN DIEGO (UCSD) - The 4th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team will begin defense of its 2006-07 California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship this weekend when it hosts Cal State Stanislaus and 8th-ranked Chico State on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. Both games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. tip-offs inside RIMAC Arena on the UCSD campus in La Jolla. The Tritons own a 12-8 advantage in the all-time series with Cal State Stanislaus, including two wins by an average of 34 points last season. UCSD and Chico State have met 16 previous times with each team winning eight of those matchups. The Tritons won two of the three meetings last year, both of which came by identical 80-63 scores.

Men's Hoopsters Tip Off Home Schedule
The UC San Diego men's basketball team begins its home and California Collegiate Athletic Association schedules this weekend as Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State invade RIMAC Arena for games on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. Both contests are slated for 7:30 p.m. tip-offs and will be immediately preceded by the UCSD women's basketball games against the same opponents. First year head coach Chris Carlson and his squad enter the games this weekend in search of their first regular season win of the year. The Tritons are currently 0-2 on the season after suffering road losses to San Diego State and Grand Canyon University on back-to-back Saturday nights.
