Tritons Report

MEN'S SOCCER - In a scene reminiscent to last year's victory, UC San Diego forward Tony Choi scored with little time remaining on the clock in double overtime to lift the Tritons to a 2-1 victory over Chico State. Choi netted the game-winner last season with less than four seconds to go in the second overtime period in Chico, while this year's game-winner came with just 1:21 remaining on the scoreboard in the victory at Triton Soccer Field. With the win, UCSD improves to 4-9-2 overall and 3-6-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play while the Wildcats fall to 7-11-0 overall and 4-8-0 in league action. Junior transfer Jason Le accounted for the Tritons' other goal and assisted on Choi's game-winner.

MEN'S WATER POLO - The 14th-ranked UC San Diego men's water polo team challenged the Western Water Polo Association leaders, UC Davis, before falling in overtime to the Aggies by a 9-8 score on Friday night at Canyonview Pool. Ben Miller gave the Tritons the lead at 7-6 with 1:41 left to play in regulation, before the Aggies tied it with 1:19 remaining. UC Davis scored the first two goals of the overtime period to lead 9-7. UCSD came back within one goal on Curtis Williamson's score but could not come up with the potential game tying goal in overtime. With the loss, UCSD drops to 10-12, while the Aggies improve to 15-5.
