WOMEN' SOCCER - Three second half goals lifted the 11th-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting Loyola Marymount University Friday evening in a West Coast Conference match at USD's Torero Stadium.With the win, the Toreros run their program-best unbeaten streak to 10 matches and improve to 11-1-2 overall and remain unblemished in WCC action with a 2-0-0 record. With the loss, the Lions saw their eight-match winning streak snapped and fall to 9-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the WCC.The Toreros dominated the time of possession in the first half and outshot the Lions 9-3. But in the eighth minute, the Lions were able to sneak one by USD's junior goalkeeper Brittany Cameron. Stefanie Baduria sent a cross into the USD goal box and Jamie Bell was there to redirect the ball into the right corner of the net to give LMU a 1-0 lead.

MEN'S SOCCER - The University of San Diego men's soccer team posted a 2-0 shutout against the Saint Mary's College Gaels. With the victory, that marks the third straight victory for the Toreros moving them to .500 winning percentage at 6-6 overall and a 3-1 conference mark. The Gaels fall to 4-5-2 and 0-3-1.In the 19th minute, USD was fouled on the right side of the field just outside the penalty box. Sophomore midfielder Fabrice Gautrat lined up a shot from 21 yards out and sent a ball sailing over the defense into opposite corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.Later in the 78th minute, San Diego forward Eddie Ahman passed a ball to forward Chase Tangney on the nearside from about 28 yards away. Tangney fired off a shot that bent up and over the Gaels defense again.

MEN'S TENNIS - The USD men's tennis team is competing in the 2007 Wilson/ITA West Region Championships and two players are still alive in singles play. Senior Thomas Liversage and freshman Dean Jackson have both advanced to Friday's Round of 32. Jackson knocked off Jay Goldman of Arizona, 6-4, 6-4 in the first round, and came back to down Pepperdine's Omar Altmann, 6-4, 6-4, in the round of 64. Liversage, seeded 9th, had a bye into the round of 64 and beat UC Santa Barbara's Max Taylor, 7-5, 6-4. Liversage will meet up with USC's Gary Sacks at 2:30 p.m. on Friday; Jackson will take on Fresno State's Rudolph Siwy at 11 am.
