SoCal MLS Report

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Soccer fans in Vancouver and Minnesota will get a chance to see what most followers of Major League Soccer have missed - an appearance by David Beckham with the Los Angeles Galaxy. On Tuesday, the Galaxy announced a schedule of four preseason friendlies in four different countries beginning next month.

Beckham saw his club campaign come to an early end on Sunday as the Galaxy failed to make the Major League Soccer playoffs, losing 1-0 to Chicago in the regular-season finale. The 32-year-old English midfielder has been hampered by injury since his arrival in the United States, playing in just five regular-season games with Los Angeles, including two starts.

The Galaxy will open the postseason tour on November 7 with a match against the Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL First Division. Los Angeles will take on the Minnesota Thunder - also of the USL First Division - four days later at the Metrodome in Minneapolis before heading abroad for games in Australia and New Zealand. The team is scheduled to play Sydney FC on November 27, six days after England faces Croatia, for which Beckham could be in line for a recall. Injuries ruled him out of contention for England's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Israel. The Galaxy's tour concludes with a matchup against Wellington Phoenix FC in the capital of New Zealand.
