USD Downs SDSU in Volleyball


SAN DIEGO - Ali Troost, Amy DeGroot and Laurel Abrahamson all recorded double-digit kills to help propel the 15th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (30-22, 30-32, 30-18, 32-30) win over cross-town rival San Diego State University Tuesday evening in a non-conference match at USD's Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 8-4 overall and have now won their eighth consecutive match over the Aztecs. With the loss, the Aztecs fall to 9-4 overall.

DeGroot led all players with her 21 kills, and also recorded her eighth double-double of the season as she recorded 16 digs. Troost recorded a career-high 17 kills on 31 attempts to post a match-best .387 attack percentage. Abrahamson recorded 14 kills on 37 attempts to post a .297 attack percentage. Andrea Csaszi picked up a team-best 22 digs.

For the Aztecs, Stephanie Darnall had a team-best 14 kills and Lindsey Mahan was the second SDSU player in double-digit kills with 13. Aime Cordeiro recorded a match-best 30 digs.
