Road Trippin: Wheeling, WVA

WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia is home to the Wheeling Nailers, East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) team and the Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football League (UIF). On this evening, a "Fan Appreciation Night" crowd enjoyed minor league hockey. The Nailers, who were trying to make the playoffs, faced off against the Trenton (NJ) Titans. The Titans were victorious and ended the playoff hopes of the Nailers.

The arena, which opened in April 1977, has had more than 10 million patrons enter through its doors for wide array of events including concerts, wedding receptions, Broadway musicals, conventions, sporting events and more. The 7,600-seat, multi-purpose concrete structure fits the old and rugged feel of the area. A guest will find the arena's two seating levels comfortable, even though the building is spartan and without many of the creature comforts of a big-city facility. However, San Diego's IPayOne Center does not have much on this Ohio Valley building.
