SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres hope to end a dismal first half with a win over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. After coming within one out of the playoffs last season, the Padres (37-57) are saddled with the worst record in the National League and have dropped 18 of their last 24 contests.

On Saturday, San Diego was victimized by a rookie pitcher and a resurgent slugger. Charlie Morton limited the Padres to one run and Jeff Francoeur, who was banished to the minors last week, had his first multi-hit game since June 24 as the Braves posted a 4-1 victory.

San Diego looks to win the rubber game of the series behind lefthander Randy Wolf (6-8, 4.38 ERA), who is the subject of numerous trade rumors. Wolf, who signed a one-year deal with San Diego prior to the season, is coveted as a solid back of the rotation starter He increased his market value in his last start on Tuesday, when he snapped a four-game losing streak by allowing one run over seven innings in a 10-1 victory over the Florida Marlins.

Atlanta counters with another rookie in Jorge Campillo (3-4, 3.06), who is just 1-4 with a 4.32 ERA over his last five outings.
