Padres On Deck @ Rockies, Game 3 of 3 (Series 1-1)
San Diego (33-52) at Colorado (33-51), 6:05 p.m, 4SD/1090/105.7
DENVER (Ticker) -- After snapping an eight-game losing streak, the Colorado Rockies go for their second straight win on Wednesday when they wrap up a three-game series against the San Diego Padres.Staff ace Aaron Cook surrendered just five hits en route to his first career shutout on Tuesday as the Rockies posted a 4-0 victory. Colorado bounced back after allowing 15 runs during the series opener on Monday as the San Diego offense returned to its pathetic form. The Padres rank second to last in the majors in runs scored (317) this season and have lost 13 of their last 15 games.
Ubaldo Jimenez (2-8, 4.71 ERA) hopes he can keep the Padres in check when he takes the mound on Wednesday. Jimenez has allowed nine runs - five earned - in 11 1/3 total innings, losing both of his starts against the Padres in 2008. The 24-year-old righthander has dropped two of his last three outings but owns a 2.82 ERA during his eight starts at home this campaign.
Randy Wolf (5-7, 4.13) tries to avoid his fourth loss in as many starts when he counters for San Diego.
