NY Mets (33-35) at LA Angels (42-28), 7:05 pm
ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Jered Weaver will hope his recent success carries into interleague play when the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim host the New York Mets on Monday in the opener of a three-game series. Weaver (6-6, 4.45 ERA) is looking for his third straight win and fifth victory in his last six starts. The 25-year-old righthander tossed eight stellar innings during Tuesday's 6-1 triumph over the Tampa Bay Rays. He gave up one run, four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Casey Kotchman blasted a two-run home run as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim avoided a sweep with a 2-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday night. It was Kotchman's first blast since April 23. Mets starter Mike Pelfrey (2-6, 4.24) will try to end his six-game losing streak and register his first win since April 15. The 24-year-old righthander did not receive a decision in his previous three starts, despite allowing four runs over 21 innings during that span. Pelfrey tossed eight frames, yielding a run on five hits and two walks with a season-high eight strikeouts in Wednesday's 5-3 triumph over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
