SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- The San Francisco Giants will turn to their ace to avoid a sweep Sunday when they host the San Diego Padres.

One of the few bright spots during this season's rebuilding campaign for the Giants has been the continued dominance of righthander Tim Lincecum (7-1, 2.33 ERA). The 23-year-old righthander came out of the gate on fire this season, allowing a total of four earned runs through his first five starts and going 4-0. He has been a tad more human since, compiling a 3-1 mark with a 3.12 ERA over his last six outings. Lincecum has already faced the Padres twice this season, going 1-0 while allowing one run in 12 2/3 combined innings. He has combined to notch 16 strikeouts. The youngster will be attempting to lead San Francisco to its first home win since May 13 against the Houston Astros.

San Diego took the opener of the series, 7-3, and followed it up with a 5-1 victory on Saturday. Rookie righthander Josh Banks allowed just an unearned run in his first career complete game Saturday, yielding six hits while striking out five and not issuing a walk in his second career start.

Veteran lefthander Randy Wolf (3-4, 4.59) will try to match his teammate's effort in the finale Sunday. Wolf has been sharp of late, allowing two runs in each of his last two outings, but did not factor in the decision in a win over Washington on Tuesday. Wolf has faced the Giants once this season, allowing two runs in six innings in a no decision on April 8.
