SoCal MLB Preview

LA Angels (28-20) at Toronto (23-25), 4:07 pm
TORONTO (Ticker) - Vladimir Guerrero will hope to build off his most impressive performance of the season as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim go for the three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Guerrero blasted two home runs and drove in four runs as the Angels held on for a 4-3 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday. He opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning and added a three-run shot in the third to give Anaheim a 4-1 edge. Suffering through a slump for most of the campaign, the 32-year-old Guerrero is batting just .266 with six home runs and 27 RBI this season.

Seeking their fourth consecutive win, the Angels will send Joe Saunders (7-1, 2.48 ERA) to the mound. The lefthander allowed two runs and five hits in 7 1/3 innings during Friday's 4-2 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Closer Francisco Rodriguez earned his major league-leading 19th save Wednesday for the Angels, who have a 14-9 road mark.

Toronto will counter with righthander A.J. Burnett (4-4, 4.71), who has 25 strikeouts over his last three starts. Burnett yielded two runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings, walking three while striking out eight in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
