Sharapova Survives in French Open

PARIS (Ticker) -- Top-seeded Maria Sharapova survived a scare in the opening round of the French Open on Wednesday. Sharapova was taken deep into the third set by fellow Russian Evgeniya Rodina before escaping with a 6-1, 3-6, 8-6 triumph. No top seed has ever lost in the first round in the 80-year history of the French Open.
