Padres On Deck @ Marlins, Game 2 of 3

San Diego (11-19) at Florida (16-13), 4:10 pm, 4SD/1090/105.7

MIAMI (Ticker) - The struggling San Diego Padres hand the ball to ace Jake Peavy on Saturday as they continue a three-game series with the Florida Marlins.

The Padres, who have lost 13 of 16, have the worst record in the National League despite having perhaps the best pitcher in the senior circuit. The reigning National League Cy Young Award Winner, Peavy has been stellar thus far. But like the rest of the Padres' pitchers, he has received little support. San Diego has given Peavy (3-1, 2.09 ERA) just four runs of support in his last 21 innings.

The hard-throwing righthander will try and help the Padres rebound from a 6-4 loss in Friday's series opener. Dan Uggla hit a pair of home runs and had four RBI to help the Marlins snap a three-game losing streak.

Ricky Nolasco (1-2, 5.13) will try and keep the momentum going. Nolasco allowed one run and two hits in five innings in a 3-2, 10-inning victory over Milwaukee on Sunday.
