Padres on Deck @ Braves, Game 1 of 3

San Diego (12-20) at Atlanta (15-15), 4:10 pm, 4SD/1090/105.7

ATLANTA (Ticker) - Little has gone wrong for the Atlanta Braves this season at Turner Field. On the other hand, not much has gone right anywhere recently for the San Diego Padres.

The Braves seek their 11th home in their last 13 tries on Tuesday when they begin a three-game set against the Padres. While Atlanta is a major league-worst 4-11 on the road, it is a National League-best 11-4 at home. The Braves are coming off a convincing three-game sweep of Cincinnati over the weekend in which they outscored the Reds, 25-8.

Meanwhile, San Diego lost for the 14th time in 18 games on Sunday in a 10-3 setback to Florida. The Padres need look no further than their inconsistent offense to find an explanation for their poor play - San Diego's 108 runs are the second-fewest in the NL.

Chris Young (2-2, 3.63 ERA) is no stranger to the offensive ineptitude as his offense has scored a total of 12 runs in his six starts this season. He permitted two runs and five hits over six innings in the Padres' 4-2 victory over Philadelphia on Wednesday.

The Braves will counter with rookie Jair Jurrjens (3-2, 3.05), who has been solid since Atlanta acquired him from Detroit in the Edgar Renteria trade during the offseason. Despite yielding just one run and two hits and over seven innings, he did not factor into the decision in a 3-2, 12-inning loss to Washington on Wednesday.
