Padres Acquire P Baek from Seattle

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres on Wednesday acquired Cha Seung Baek from the Seattle Mariners for fellow righthander Jared Wells. Baek, who turns 28 on Thursday, appeared in 10 games for the Mariners this season, going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA. The Korean righthander was designated for assignment on May 21. In 37 career games, Baek has posted a 10-9 record and 4.96 ERA. Wells, 26, goes to a new team just four days after making his major league debut. He allowed two runs in three innings with the Padres. A 31st-round pick in 2002, Wells has gone 35-46 with 18 saves and a 4.32 ERA in 160 career minor league games.
