Immelman Holds on For Masters Win

AUGUSTA, Georgia (Ticker) - Trevor Immelman made it interesting, but he held on to win The Masters on Sunday at Augusta National. Immelman carded a 3-over-par 75 to finish at 8-under 280 and post a three-stroke victory over Tiger Woods.

Woods struggled on the greens and finished with an even-par 72 for a 5-under 283 total. Woods had his chances but was never able to put any pressure on Immelman and finished second here for the second straight year.

Immelman had two birdies on Sunday in tough scoring conditions as a pronounced win won out over the late groups. He put his tee shot in the water at the par-3 16th to drop to 8-under with Woods having posted his score after a closing birdie. Immelman then came up short with his approach to 17 but splashed out of a greenside bunker to three feet and saved par. His par at 18 put the finishing touches on his first major championship.
