USD Defeats Oregon State

SAN DIEGO (USD) - The 11th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team (7-6) downed the two-time defending national champion Oregon State University Beavers (4-5) 10-5 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at USD's Cunningham Stadium.

San Diego again wasted no time in scoring as for the third consecutive game, the Toreros scored a run in the first inning. The USD run came on a Victor Sanchez run-scoring double.USD would then tack on one more run in the second inning on a Sean Nicol ground out which scored Zach Walters, who had singled, to push USD's lead to 2-0.

After the Beavers tied things up with one run in each of the third and fourth innings, USD regained the lead with a three-run fifth inning. Kevin Muno got things started with a stand-up double and he moved to third on a stolen base.
