SAN DIEGO (USD) - The University of San Diego women's basketball team had three players named to the All-West Coast Conference teams, the conference office announced Monday morning. Senior guard Amanda Rego and junior center Amber Sprague take home first-team All-WCC for the second consecutive year and freshman guard Sam Child was named to the All-Freshman team.Rego, a 5-10 guard from San Diego, helped propel the Toreros into a No. 3 seed in the upcoming WCC Tournament, as she averaged 10.1 points per game and 8.1 assists per game in league action, as she was named the WCC Player of the Week twice during the season. Rego became the all-time leader in both career-assists with 622 and in career-steals with 286. Rego also became the first player in the history of the program to record a triple-double, a feat she achieved twice this season. She also broke her own record with 16 assists in a win over Saint Mary's on Senior Night.
Baseball Has A Busy Week
The 11th-ranked University of San Diego baseball team (5-4) will continue its crazy start to the season as they will once again have to play five games this week. The Toreros will open play on Tuesday in a 6 p.m. game at No. 13 UC Irvine. The Toreros will then return home for four consecutive game as part of the San Diego State Tournament. USD will play in a non-conference game against Santa Clara on Thursday at 2 p.m. Then on Friday, USD will play No. 21 Oklahoma State in a 2 p.m. game and on Saturday the Toreros will square off against the two-time defending national champion and 12th-ranked Oregon State Beavers at 11 a.m. Sunday's game has been moved from USD to near-by Point Loma, where the Toreros will play a 1 p.m. non-conference game against Loyola Marymount.
