SURPRISE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Chase Headley continued his torrid spring, homering in the San Diego Padres' 9-5 victory over the Texas Rangers. Headley also tripled and had three RBI, improving his spring average to .500 (8-for-16). Tony Clark and Craig Stansberry also homered for the Padres, who pounded out 14 hits. San Diego starter Greg Maddux worked three solid innings, allowing one run and one hit without walking a batter. Kevin Mench blasted a three-run homer for the Rangers, who faced an 8-1 deficit after five innings.
