PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- San Diego ace Jake Peavy surrendered four first-inning runs as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim posted an 8-4 Cactus League victory over the Padres on Tuesday.

Anaheim starter Jered Weaver allowed one run and one hit while striking out two in four innings en route to his third win of the spring. Peavy, the 2007 National League Cy Young Award winner, gave up an RBI triple by Erick Aybar, a run-scoring double by Jeff Mathis and RBI singles by Kendry Morales and Nathan Haynes as Anaheim opened an early 4-0 lead.

Weaver yielded a solo homer by Jody Gerut in the bottom of the first, and Colt Morton launched a three-run shot off Kasey Olenberger in the eighth to draw San Diego within 5-4. However, Peter Bourjos hit a three-run blast off Padres reliever Justin Hampson in the ninth to put the Angels firmly ahead.
