AAFL Scraps Plans to Play

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- Unable to find the necessary financial backing, the new All American Football League has postponed plans for its inaugural 2008 season. The league said its new goal is for play to begin in 2009. Kennan Davis, the vice president of league operations, said sponsors have commitments to remain with the league in 2009. Last week, the league announced it was exploring "multiple financing options," including a TV deal, to address funding issues. The league was expected to open training camp this week for its six teams. Games were set to begin April 12.
