SoCal NHL Preview

Anaheim (28-22-7) at NY Rangers (27-23-6), 4:00 pm
NEW YORK (Ticker) - Teemu Selanne's first game back could not have been much better for the Anaheim Ducks. Selanne will be in uniform once again as the Ducks visit the New York Rangers on Thursday in their sixth stop on a nine-game road swing.
After sitting out the first 56 games of the season contemplating retirement, the 37-year-old Finn had an assist in Anaheim's 3-0 triumph over the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Selanne's return appeared to help the Ducks' struggling offense, which had been shutout in its two previous contests.
The Rangers had a three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday with a 4-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. Chris Drury tallied for the fourth straight contest in the defeat. Drury, who has five goals and seven points over the last four games, has 16 tallies and 38 points this season. New York, which currently holds the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoff race, will need increased production from its captain if it hopes to make a serious push. Jaromir Jagr has 15 goals and 32 assists on the campaign. The 35-year-old right wing has collected at least 32 tallies in each of the past 15 seasons, but is on pace for just 22 this season.
