MWC Football Race Heats Up

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Source: MWC) - The race for the 2007 Mountain West Conference football crown hits the home stretch as league-leading BYU will be looking to clinch a share of its second straight MWC title when the Cougars travel to Wyoming on Saturday, November 17. The BYU-Wyoming contest at 12 p.m. PT will be the first of two games to be televised that day on The Mtn.-MountainWest Sports Network, with the New Mexico at Utah match-up to follow at 2:30 p.m. PT. Other conference tilts on tap for Saturday include San Diego State at Air Force at 11 a.m. PT and UNLV at TCU in a 4:30 p.m. PT kickoff. Colorado State will step out for a 1a a.m. PT non-conference outing at home against Football Championship Subdivision opponent Georgia Southern.
Air Force (8-3, 5-2 MWC) and San Diego State (4-5, 3-2 MWC) have split their eight outings as MWC opponents, with each team owning a 2-2 mark in four meetings at their respective home stadiums. Overall, the Falcons enjoy a 9-4 advantage in games played at the Academy. The Aztecs have won four of the last five meetings in the series, with three of those games being decided by a touchdown or less, including a 19-12 outing last year in San Diego.
