(SAN DIEGO - Source: USD) - The University of San Diego Torero football team, with a record of 3-0 and coming off a bye week, moved back into the No. 1 spot for The Sports Network FCS Top-10 Mid-Major Poll. San Diego, which is coming off a 49-13 win over Northern Colorado of the Big Sky, begins PFL play this Saturday when they take on No. 6 Butler (4-0) in Indianapolis with a 1:00 p.m. contest at Butler Bowl.
USD, which held the No. 1 ranking in the preseason poll, and also after week one, was unseated by Drake University in the polls for week two and three. This week the Toreros received 21 of the possible 34 first place votes. Drake (3-1) falls to No. 2 after suffering their first loss of the season, a 45-7 decision to Northern Iowa, the #3 ranked scholarship team in the FCS Top 25 poll.
Rounding out the Top-10 poll is the Dayton Flyers (4-0) in the No. 3 spot, Robert Morris (3-1), Central Connecticut State (2-2), Butler (4-0), Albany (1-3), Stony Brook (2-2), Iona (3-1) and Duquesne (1-2). In the Sports Network FCS Top-25 poll, the Toreros are receiving votes (22) and sit in the 39th spot overall.
