NFL Picks: Week 2

By Chris Palochko

It was a rough start to the season with an embarrassing and unacceptable 1-3 record. The New York Jets, who were tabbed my best bet, also still are looking for a way to generate some type of pass rush. Here are the picks for Week 2 (home teams in caps):

(Best Bet) 1. San Diego (+3 1/2) over NEW ENGLAND

For the second straight week, I'll go against Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Randy Moss. The Chargers have payback on their minds after losing to the Patriots last season in the divisional round of the playoffs in a game they pretty much dominated for three quarter. The road also shouldn't deter the Chargers, who laid a 41-17 beating on the Patriots in Foxboro back in 2005.
PICK: San Diego, 24-20

2. Buffalo (+10) over PITTSBURGH
One has to wonder how emotionally ready the Bills will be following the devastating injury to tight end Kevin Everett in last week's opener. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Bills will show plenty of fight.
PICK: Pittsburgh, 23-17

3. ARIZONA (+3) over Seattle
Despite losing their season opener at San Francisco, the Cardinals looked like they may actually start resembling an NFL team. Last season, the Cardinals beat the Seahawks at home. They have a chance to turn the trick again.
PICK: Arizona, 20-17

4. TENNESSEE (+7) over Indianapolis

The Titans hung in against the Colts last season, beating them at home and losing on the road by one point. This should be another close game.
PICK: Indianapolis, 26-24

5. CHICAGO (-12) over Kansas City
While it's hard to lay points with any team that employs Rex Grossman as its quarterback, the Chiefs may have trouble scoring.
PICK: Chicago, 24-10

6. New York Jets vs. BALTIMORE (under 33 1/2)

It could be Kellen Clemens against Kyler Boller at quarterback. Expect plenty of defense.
PICK: Baltimore, 20-10
