Young Goes Tonight; Pads' Bats Come Alive

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Chris Young aims to continue his home success when the San Diego Padres take on the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of a three-game series at Petco Park on Saturday. This season, he has tossed 15 scoreless innings, allowing just seven hits and five walks in two starts here. The Padres got back on track Friday as ace Jake Peavy tossed seven great innings and Russell Branyan belted two homers to snap a three-game losing streak with a 7-0 victory over the Cardinals. San Diego had not lost four straight contests since August 14-17. During their skid, the Padres managed just seven runs and they matched that mark on Friday. St. Louis will counter Saturday with Braden Looper (4-2, 2.66), who has been the Cardinals' most reliable starter since moving into the rotation from the bullpen.
