USD Baseball Ranked At #5

SAN DIEGO - The University of San Diego Toreros men's baseball team rose one spot in the latest Baseball America top-25 poll to a new program-record of No. 5. The Toreros also moved up one position in the latest Rivals.com top-25 poll to No. 6 and up to No. 6 in the latest Collegiate Baseball top-30 poll.

The Toreros closed out the regular-season with a 3-1 record this past week. USD downed No. 13 UC Irvine, then took two of three against Santa Clara to claim the regular-season West Coast Conference Championship and produce the program's first 40-win season as the finish the regular-season with a 41-15 overall record. The Toreros have also earned the right to host the WCC Championship series for the first time in program history.

The Toreros will return to action on Friday, May 25 as then begin play in the WCC Championship series against Gonzaga University. The series will be held at USD and Friday's game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.
