Tuesday’s Three Dot Thoughts…

by Jon Greene

Tony Gwynn’s upcoming induction into the baseball Hall of Fame is bringing San Diego State University baseball national exposure. Gwynn was featured in Tuesday’s USA Today with a SDSU embroidered vest on. What a great and free recruitment tool…Across town, the USD baseball team is gaining national attention by soaring to new heights. The Toreros have climbed as high as #5 in the most recent collegiate polls…The West Coast Conference regular season champions will host in the conference title series this weekend at USD…The Padres are in second place behind the Dodgers in the NL West. New field general Bud Black is still putting his mark on this team, but the early results look to be promising…Maybe the Padres bats are quiet so far this season because the new manager was a pitcher…Probably not, but that is the only reason that I could come up with…The NHL playoffs are only behind the NFL in dramatics and entertainment value. If you have never watched an overtime NHL playoff game, you would agree, and especially if you are watching it in person…Did you know that you can watch almost 14 minutes of NHL action in the same amount of time it takes for the NBA to play the final two minutes of a game…Does it really matter if the World Series begins on a Wednesday, instead of a Saturday?
