Chargers Release WR Parker

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- The San Diego Chargers released veteran wide receiver Eric Parker on Wednesday. Parker, who had spent all six seasons of his career with the Chargers, led all San Diego receivers in catches in 2004 (47) and 2006 (48). He signed as an undrafted free agent in 2002. The Chargers tried to trade the 29-year-old product of Tennessee this summer after acquiring Chris Chambers in a trade from Miami last season. Parker missed all of 2007 with a foot injury. For his career, Parker has 187 receptions for 2,586 yards and 11 touchdowns in 62 games, including 40 starts.
